Anne’s Story
Hi, everyone! I’m Anne! I have four gorgeous fur babies right now and after 22 years in the military, moving all over the world with my kitties, I am very excited to start my passion project at Meowkins. Looking forward to taking excellent care of your fur babies in the awesome cat hotel that I’ve been dreaming of for the last ten years. Thanks for choosing Meowkins!
Blake’s Story
About Me
Hi, I’m Blake Sablatura! I’m a lifelong animal lover with a soft spot for our furry friends, especially cats. My journey with animals has taken me across the globe—from volunteering in the Peace Corps to working as an NPS ranger—and it’s shaped my passion for providing the kind of care I’d want for my own pets.
My Pet Story
I’ve always been a “dog person,” and during my time in the Peace Corps, I adopted a stray dog. Unfortunately, local customs and beliefs made it impossible for my dog to thrive in that environment, and I lost him far too soon.
But life has a way of guiding you where you’re meant to be. While traveling in the Philippines, I encountered a tiny newborn kitten, white as snow, who couldn’t even open her eyes. I couldn’t take her with me right away, but I couldn’t forget her. Later, while working on community youth development in rural China, I adopted my cat, Asirpa. Her name means “New Moon and Future,” a reminder of the bright journey ahead of us.
Her early life wasn’t easy. COVID lockdowns trapped us in rural China for two years, and complications with veterinary paperwork delayed our plans to bring her home. But after four years of perseverance, Asirpa finally joined me in the United States. She’s traveled with me across New Mexico and all over the country, growing into a sweet, talkative, and endlessly charming companion. Today, she’s the heart and face of my business.
Through every challenge, my love for animals has only grown—and it’s the same care, compassion, and attention that I bring to every animal I work with.
